Hi everyone! I have redesigned my weebly so that it may be easier to navigate for both you and your student. Just a reminder, I do tutoring after school on Monday and Wednesday until around 4:15pm. I would encourage every student so stop by weekly to make sure they are up to date on the material. You shouldn't wait until the day before a test or towards the end of the quarter to get help. Some of my classroom procedures have changed since the beginning of school. Starting Quarter 2, students will not be able to receive full credit on homework that is late. If the homework is not done by the next day in class, students are able to finish it up by the end of the that week and turn it in for up to a 75%. I will make sure to keep power school up to date as much as possible. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions on any grades. Quiz and Test corrections are due one week after they are passed back. If the student reworks each problem that they missed, they are able to receive half of the points that they missed on the assignment. HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!!!!!!

GRADES ARE ALL UP TO DATE!!! If you see a zero for an assignment, it means that nothing has been turned in. I will be getting the rest of my website up to date tomorrow night for students missing assignments. They can turn it in for full credit until the beginning of the next week. This is when I will start enforcing late assignments. If it is not turned in my the beginning of class for all assignments assigned starting Monday, it will be 25% off the first day late and then can only get up to a 50% on the assignment. Once tablets start coming out, assignments will start to become more electronic with a strict deadline. This eliminates the loss of papers and students can get immediate results. I have also put in the assignments in with their weighted percentage. Wake County's policy has determined that all test and major assignments are 75% of the student's grade. Minor projects, class work, and warm up's are 15% of the student's grade. Finally, homework is worth up to 10% of the student's grade. There are only a few assignment in the major category right now so this may be why your student's grade has changed drastically. I would recommend having your student up to date with the two projects that will be due on Monday. These will help their grade out a lot!

I have put in all the grades I have for the moment. If you student has a zero, it may mean that it has not been turned in. Please make sure that your student is keeping up with the homework for CC1. It is a high school level course therefore there is a lot of material that has to be covered throughout the year. I try to assign 20 to 30 minutes of math practice four nights a week to give the most opportunities for answering questions. I do not, however, collect each assignment for points. I will suggest that every homework is completed so that they know what material they are struggling with so questions may be asked. I have updated the first week of materials for my class and will finish the past two week tomorrow. The students have a quiz tomorrow covering the past week's material and their first Unit 1 test on Thursday. Please email me as much as possible if you have any questions. I am available every morning before school and most afternoons and during lunch if students have questions. I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

Here are the outlines for what happened in math class each week. Please feel free to keep yourself up to date with what your child is learning in my class. There are links to the handouts and notes that I give out in class. This is for absent students to keep themselves caught up and for students that may have lost things periodically. I keep the notes completed in my room. It is their job to locate a peer or to come see me to get the notes. I do not keep a lot of extra copies so this, as I have found, has been a good way to make sure every student has the materials for learning. If a printer is not working, I handwritten assignment on the material is also acceptable :)

-Hello everyone! I have finally had the time to update my website! I promise that I will keep it more up to date throughout the year so that it can be a good resource for all our student's needs. We have started the year with a running start! Math 8 has already had their first Unit test of the quarter. I will be handing them back out Thursday of the coming week. I am out of the classroom both Tuesday and Wednesday this week due to Covey training that I must complete. I will, however, be in the classroom before school both those days for questions on the material. Please make sure that your student is keeping up with the material at home. I am putting in grades shortly and have noticed a lot of missing assignments from multiple students. There is a lot of practice built into the curriculum due to the pacing of the course. I give meaningful assignments that are designed to make sure each individual is completely clear on each concept. If not, I want the chance to give assistance the next day so that these things do not wait until the day before an exam. I am enjoying getting to know your students. They brighten up my day each morning! Hope everyone has a relaxing labor day weekend!

-Good morning everyone! I hope everyone's week went very well!! I was finally back in the classroom yesterday after being out for Covey training for the past two days. I am so excited to be back with your students. As an update, Unit 1 test was returned to the students yesterday. Test corrections are due on Wednesday which is also our next Unit test. The corrections will add 10 points to the student's test score if completed fully. It also requires a parent signature. If your student is unhappy with their performance on the exam, I would recommend having them come visit me in the mornings before school starts or ask questions during class. The homework is designed to reinforce concepts taught and to check the student for any misconceptions. The students should be keeping up with some sort of math binder that holds all the in-class notes and activities for reference. Also, make sure to check power school to see if your child is missing any work. I start taking points off for late work on assignments starting next week! Also, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me or fill out a contact form on the weebly and I will respond promptly! Have a good weekend!
